Inpatient Trauma Treatment
Our dedicated facility is a spacious ten-bed inpatient clinic in Oxfordshire, England with excellent treatment facilities.
Inpatient trauma treatment offers an open ended extended care programme for clients recovering from a variety of emotional and psychological trauma related disorders, which may lead to self-medicating practices such as self harming and addiction. The 60-day-plus programme ensures that clients have sufficient time and support to gain new insight and understanding into their painful and disabling experiences of trauma, to heal this trauma, and to develop and practice new coping skills.
Some of the very best trauma treatment specialists in the UK are represented in the clinical team and they are supported in their work by leading national and international figures in the field.
The individualised programme may include:-
- group and individual therapy
- sensorimotor psychotherapy
- structural dissociation therapy
- somatic experiencing
- eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
- internal family systems
- lifespan integration
- nutritional therapy
- art therapy
- family therapy
- craniosacral therapy
- 12-step groups
- tai chi
- equine therapy
Clients at the inpatient clinic will see a one-to-one therapist three times a week and there are also groups twice a day. A fundamental part of the treatment programme is the group dynamic which optimises clients’ social engagement systems and we offer mindfulness, meditation, breathing techniques, yoga and tai chi to reduce symptoms and stabilise dysregulated systems.
We comply with the International Society for the Study of Trauma (ISSTD) guidelines (2011) for the treatment of trauma, (http://www.isst-d.org) and work with its three phase model.
- Symptom reduction and regulation
- Processing traumatic memories
- Consolidation and integration
